Hip Injury Stops Andy Murray From Ciccinnati Masters

Injury has prevented Andy Murray from competing at the Cincinnati Master which begins on August 13. The World number one withdrew due to a hip injury.

“I won’t be playing in Cincinnati as I continue my recovery – I always enjoy playing there and I look forward to returning next year.”

The 30-year-old Briton season has been hampered with injury which affected his performance at the Wimbledon open as well as pulling out of the Rogers Cup in July.

Murray’s reign as tennis number one is also under threat if Rafael Nadal reach the semi-final of the Ciccinnati Masters.

Murray could also be a doubt for last grand slam of the year, the US Open which kicks off August 28 but he is hopeful of an appearance.

“I’m continuing to work hard on the court with the aim of being in New York,” said Murray.
