Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom, on Tuesday, September 25, announced the appointment of 13 new special advisers from various districts in the state.
The new advisers are: Sanwua Tarnogo, Jerome Tar, Reverend Samuel Ivartse, Dr Terghter Ayargwer, Austin Okoh, Dr Bem Melladu and Paul Iyajir.

Others are Reverend Jacob Ayenyi, Okoh Achegbulu, Jacob Oguwche, Reverend Joseph Ogezi, Alhaji Isah Usman and Peter Otakwu.
A statement issued by the secretary to the state government, Professor Tony Ijohor, said that the newly appointed special advisers would be sworn in on Thursday, September 27, by the governor at the new Banquet Hall in Benue People’s House, Makurdi. We recall that Ortom had on July 8, 2018, sacked 12 special advisers and retained seven of them.
It was previously reported that Benue state government on Wednesday, September 19, said that it had started recovering official vehicles of sacked political appointees adding that it was not witch-hunting those affected.
The special adviser to Governor Ortom on security matters, retired Col. Paul Hembah, who disclosed this, denied allegations that sacked political appointees loyal to Senator George Akume are currently being witch-hunted through the recovery of their official vehicles Hembah maintained that the affected people were duly communicated, through letters, phone calls and text messages, to willingly return the government’s vehicles in their custody.
Meanwhile, Governor Ortom has commended the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun state for taking the lead in the governorship election which was later declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement by his spokesman, Terver Akase, the governor said that the conduct of the Osun election reflects the resolve of many Nigerians “to reject impunity and give their mandate to PDP in the 2019 elections.”
He also commended the people of Osun state for the peaceful manner they conducted themselves during the polls.
