Ita Oba Orile Imo witnessed a sad moment when a fertile accident which claimed lives, on Tuesday morning occurred.

The accident occurred along Abeokuta-Siun-Sagamu expressway, claimed the lives Five persons, while two others sustained serious injuries.


Based on the information given by  Clement  Oladele, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident which occurred around 7.20a.m was caused by excessive speeding and tyre burst.


Oladele, explained that the crash involved nine adult males adult, who were traveling in two different vehicles, a black Honda Accord with registration number EKY 365 FB and a green coloured Honda Space Wagon with registration number KTU 246.

The Honda Accord car, the FRSC Sector Commander, stated that it lost one of its tyres on motion and veered off to opposite direction and collided head on with the Space Wagon, killing five persons on the spot and injuring two, while two others escaped unhurt.


The injured victims, according to him, were taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) Sagamu, for treatment, while corpses of dead victims were deposited at the mortuary of the same hospital.

While commiserating with the relatives of the crash victims and advising members of the public whose relatives might have traveled along the region to visit OOUTH for identification of their relatives, urged motorists to properly maintain their vehicles and drive within approved speed limits .
