The Blaugrana launched an official bid to sue the Brazilian for breach of contract following his move to Paris Saint-German, but the star forward has said he is ready to fight back over their claim.
PSG striker Neymar has said he is ready to fight former club Barcelona over their compensation claim which they relay as a breach of contract.
Barcelona was said to have paid Neymar £7.8m after extending his contract with them in 2016 till 2021, the Spanish club now suing Neymar for moving just after a year of signing the new deal.
Neymar has decided to fight back and thus released a joint statement alongside his lawyers to counter such claim.
The statement released as quoted in the Spanish media reads: “We inform everyone that Neymar and his lawyers are aware of the news released today regarding the legal actions filed by FC Barcelona before the courts of Barcelona.
“Following official notification and after the full review of the club’s claim, the player’s formal defence will be filed in due course.
“Regarding the bonuses owed for the execution of the contract of 2016, it is also necessary to inform that the player has already initiated the formal procedures of collection before the competent courts.”
